Why Luxor Still Inspires Me After All These Years

By Dr. Ahmed Shaban

Luxor is much more than a destination to me.

It is a living open-air museum where history comes alive in a way that is difficult to describe until you experience it for yourself.

Every time I walk through Karnak Temple or watch the sunrise over the Nile, I feel the same excitement and sense of wonder that inspired me when I first began guiding visitors through this remarkable city.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of sharing Luxor with travellers from around the world. What I enjoy most is not simply explaining ancient monuments, but helping guests understand the stories, people and culture behind them.

For me, a great tour is not only about historical facts. It is about creating memorable moments, meaningful conversations and personal connections that stay with visitors long after they return home.

Luxor is filled with extraordinary places, from magnificent temples and royal tombs to the peaceful beauty of the Nile. My goal is for every guest to leave not only with beautiful photographs, but with a deeper appreciation for Egypt’s history, culture and people.
